Do you have trouble putting up artwork so it looks like a professional and not a toddler? There is a real easy science to it and I’m going to give you some inside tips on the subject so you will be proud of your acomplishments not scared of what your neighbors think. ha! 🙂

When I’m hanging art I keep in mind what is going around the art in the back of my head. Any Plants? Furniture? A good rule of thumb is to hang art so that its midpoint is between 55 and 60 inches from the floor. Aim for the lower end of the gamet if most members of your household are on the shorter side; in rooms with ceilings higher than eight feet, artwork can be hung a little higher than 60 inches off the floor.

Do you have a gallery of pictures you want to hang? Wondering what the rules are? I say:
2-3 inches. Think about your gallery wall as one single piece of art – whether your arrangement is wide, narrow, big, or small, your wall frame design should be cohesive. Keep your frames 2-3 inches apart and the spacing consistent between each frame. You want it to be consistent, not look out of place.

What about a sofa or bed? When placing art over a sofa or headboard, for instance, it should span roughly two-thirds of the width of the furniture piece. Hang art so that the bottom of the frame is 8 to 10 inches above the furniture piece; the art should be visually connected to it, not floating high above it. Easy as pie!
